Bike Beacon
AT&TCombine the strength, connectivity and reach of AT&T’s network with Waze’s crowd-sourced mapping platform, to help keep America’s cyclists safe.
Idea:
AT&T will partner with Waze to create an AT&T-branded #BikeBeacon to warn via Waze of nearby cyclists who are connected to the AT&T network.
How:
AT&T would sponsor “Bike Mode” in Waze. The features main function would be to send the cyclists GPS location data in real time during their ride to the cloud hosted on the AT&T network. This data would then be provided as an open source API for other developers and mapping companies to integrate into their software.
In case of Waze, drivers would see the Bike Beacon on their map while they are driving. Waze would signal visual and vocal alerts to the driver if they were getting too close to a cyclist.
